After a couple of concepts and various teasers, Honda will finally unveil the next generation Civic Type R at Geneva in early March. Describing it as a "race car for the road," Honda claims the new hot hatch will be the most extreme Type R ever built. Power will come from Honda's new 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo four banger that'll produce around 280 horsepower, but we won't know exact figures and other specs until closer to show time. A six-speed manual gearbox, however, will be standard fare.
In related news, there's yet another rumor going around claiming that after years of begging, US hot hatch enthusiasts will finally get their wish: the Civic Type R is on its way stateside. Honda hasn't commented on the report but we do know that it has tested Type R prototypes on US soil in recent months. We also hear that an official announcement of some kind is expected on February 3. Stay tuned.
