All proceeds going to Karmanos Cancer Institute.
GM is sending the first retail 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to auction with all proceeds going to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. A long-standing partner of the institute, GM has previously raised money for it via the sale of the first Stingray Convertible – that sold for $1 million – and first 45th anniversary edition Camaro, raising a total of $7.3 million over the past 17 years. Barrett-Jackson is tasked with auctioning the first retail Z06 at the Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach, Florida, on April 12.
The new owner will receive the car at a special dinner event later that month. First presented in Detroit and more recently in Geneva, the Corvette Z06 won’t hit showrooms until early next year. Closely based on the C7.R race car, the Z06 comes with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 rated at 625 hp and 635 lb-ft of torque, optional eight-speed auto, and advanced infotainment system.
