It was love at first sight for us when the achingly beautiful 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible was revealed. It isn't on sale yet, but one lucky person is now the proud new owner of the first-ever example to roll off the production line. This privilege burned a massive hole in their wallet, however, but at least it will all be going to a good cause.

At last weekend's annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in Arizona, the first-ever production 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible Inspiration Series VIN 100001 went under the hammer and sold for a staggering $2 million. That's insane when you consider the standard Lexus LC 500 Coupe starts at $92,300.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Bob Woodruff Foundation charities. At the same auction, the first-ever 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray also sold for $3 million and will benefit the Detroit Children's Fund.

To say that this 2021 Lexus LC500 Convertible is special is an understatement. Based on the Inspiration Series, the one-of-a-kind convertible is distinguished by its striking Structural Blue exterior paint and a white semi-aniline leather interior, as well as unique blue brake calipers and exclusive 21-inch Liquid Graphite-colored forged alloy wheels with gloss black accents. Liquid Platinum color accents have also been applied to the headlights, side intakes, side mirrors and taillamps. Carbon-fiber scuff plates have also been added inside each door inscribed with "LC Inspiration Series Launch Exclusive 1 of 1" badging.

The winner also received a framed sketch of the LC Convertible, a portfolio with production-line photos, a unique certificate signed by vehicle chief engineers and the general manager of the Motomachi plant, and a custom luggage set that fits perfectly in the LC Convertible's trunk.

Like every Lexus LC 500 Convertible, power is provided by a naturally-aspirated V8 engine that produces 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Its new owner will learn how to tame the LC 500 Convertible at the limit too because the auction also includes a Performance Driving Experience with brand ambassador and race car driver Scott Pruett, plus a three-night hotel stay for two at Pebble Beach Resort and a round of golf for two at Pebble Beach Golf Course.
