English automaker Aston Martin is working on a whole new generation of the DB9 which is expected to be the basis of a high-performance DBS supercar. The VH platform of the current DB9 is expected to carry-over with improvements made all around. The platform will reportedly be lighter in order to improve braking, handling, acceleration and fuel efficiency. Rumor has it that the DBS will be losing around 400 pounds with AM engineers looking at a 10-15 percent weight reduction.

Total weight is being targeted for around 3,300 pounds. Under the hood, the current 6.0-liter V12 engine is expected to go through major changes to not only produce a greater output but to also be more fuel efficient. We could be looking at a 20hp increase over the current DBS with a total output of nearly 530hp. As predicted and what we can see from these spy shots, exterior design will not be significantly altered but we'll likely see some design cues taken from the One-77.
