The first-ever GMC Hummer EV SUV is reportedly up for sale less than a month after it was purchased at a charity auction for half a million dollars.

According to a user on the Hummer Chat forum, he works for the company that purchased the electric brute. As per his post, the company is looking to auction the vehicle off via Barrett-Jackson at upcoming Palm Beach or Las Vegas events.

"Our company purchased the VIN#1 Hummer EV SUV at Barrett in Scottsdale," he wrote. "Tread Lightly, the charity organization that the funds went to, aligns well with our company and we were excited to participate with them, however, the Hummer should go to a true enthusiast or collector. I spoke with GM late last week and the vehicle is built. We are in the process of title transfer and getting the vehicle shipped."

According to the forum user, the electric Hummer will be titled in Arizona, and the current owners are willing to consider a "reasonable offer for the vehicle." As an Edition 1 derivative, this particular example receives model-specific Moonshot Green Matte paint.

By selling the Edition 1, the owner won't recoup the $500,000 it spent on the vehicle, but should garner a few appealing offers. We've seen examples of the Hummer EV Pickup selling for more than $200,000, so a similar price is entirely possible.

The fact that it is the first example of its kind and bears VIN 001 will only work in its favor.

Aside from that, reservations for the Hummer EV SUV are currently full, so this is a chance for someone to get their hands on the desirable electric vehicle - they'll pay through their teeth for the opportunity, though.

Interestingly, the SUV raised considerably less money at auction than its pickup sibling, which sold for a cool $2.5 million in 2021. While it's strange that the owners have decided to part ways with the first production Hummer EV SUV, the important thing here is that a charity benefited. The vehicle will likely head to a loving home, too.

"We can't thank the GMC brand and Barrett-Jackson enough for this amazing support," said Tread Lightly's Matt Caldwell at the time of the sale.
