If you are looking to get your hands on a unique Ford Bronco or Mustang, then you're in luck because Barrett-Jackson will be auctioning off two special examples at this year's Scottsdale event. This includes the one-off 2021 Ford Bronco 66 First Edition and the first production unit of the 2022 Ford Shelby GT500KR. Joining the duo will also be a 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 continuation car,
Funds generated from the sales of these cars will be put towards select awareness programs and charities across the USA. CEO of Barrett-Jackson Craig Jackson says: "We're continuing our legacy of giving back to our communities with many incredible charity vehicles crossing the block in Scottsdale."
The Shelby GT500KR is the first of the King of the Road units being put together to pay homage to the tuning firm's 60th anniversary. This edition is based on the GT500 but power has been pushed up to 900 horsepower thanks to a 3.8-liter supercharger. Assistance is provided by a high-volume intercooler and an open cold air intake system.
225 of these will be made available worldwide, with 180 reserved for the USA. But they'll be rarer than they first seem, as just 60 are being built per model year (2020-2022). On the plus side, that means that you don't have to buy a 2022 GT500 to get the upgrade. This very first model should sell for far more than the regular price of $127,895, but all proceeds go to the Carroll Shelby Foundation and JDRF, a nonprofit dedicated to diabetes research. The 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C CSX continuation is a solid representation of the company's history. It is powered by a 7.0-liter V8 that has been built by Yates and pushes 540 hp to the rear axle through a manual gearbox and Salisbury differential. This particular unit was completed by Speedway Classic Cars in Las Vegas who graced the frame with a hand-laid body made of fiberglass and proceeds from its sale will go to Mayo Clinic.
The Bronco 66 is a model that we are already somewhat familiar with as it was revealed earlier this week as a way to generate funds for the Pope Francis Center. This special model was put together with the help of Ford and pays homage to the 1980 Bronco that Ford built for Pope John Paul II's visit to America in October 1979.
None of these vehicles will have a reserve attached, but we expect all of them to sell in the high-six-figure bracket. If you're interested, the auction takes place from January 22-30.
