First Look at All-New Mercedes E-Class Interior; Borrows Much from S-Class

Set to launch in 2016.

It hasn’t been too long since we last spied the all-new Mercedes E-Class, but these latest spy shots afford us the first look at the 2016 model’s interior. As you can see, Mercedes wants to make a clear distinction between the C-Class and E-Class, by giving the latter an interior closer to that of the S-Class with the tablet-style satnav screen dropped for something a lot more sophisticated. Other new upgrades on show include freshly designed rear lights.

Sharing the same MRA modular platform as the new C-Class, the E-Class will of course arrive longer and wider than its 3 Series fighting sibling, and will also be lighter and more rigid thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials in the new platform. After arriving as a sedan, Mercedes will roll out the E-Class as a wagon, coupe and convertible. There will also be a variety of gasoline and diesel engines as well as a plug-in hybrid variant and of course an AMG model further down the line.
