While perusing the list of cars going up for auction at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction last month, we hit upon something rather interesting. Listed as lot 3016 was a Chevrolet with no detailed information whatsoever, with a description saying: "A special Chevrolet model will be revealed during the auction where bidders will have the opportunity to take home this one-of-a-kind vehicle." At the time we surmised it would be the very first C7 Vette to roll off the Bowling Green assembly line, and our educated guess has been proved right.

That same lot is now listed as the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray with a VIN ending #0001. There's no reserve and all proceeds of the sale will go to the College for Creative Studies. So if you're keen to own a piece of future history whilst doing some good at the same time, register for the auction online. The Scottsdale 2013 auction is taking place on January 19 at 8.30 p.m.
