Record-breaking car that killed Shelby’s factory-sponsored car in 1960s races.
This Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake CSX 2093 was one of just eight cars modified with Shelby’s Dragonsnake package, and the 93rd Cobra ever built. On auction at Mecum Auctions in Houston, it has a track record as impressive as any racing enthusiast could hope for. It is a record holder for various retired categories in the National Hot Rod Association, won 7 NHRA national events, won the 1966 NGRA World Championship and much more.
With a Fuscia exterior and black interior, this Shelby comes with a 289 CI Ford V8 engine, a four-speed transmission, and has been completely and accurately restored to show-quality by Ziegler Coach in California. According to Mecum, not only is this car “the most famous and successful of the eight Shelby Dragonsnakes; it is in fact the winningest competition Cobra in history”. It goes up for auction next month, so hurry up and check out the lot here.
