Ford Adds Power Boost to its ST Hot Hatches

Hot Hatch

Ford and Mountune add some power to the Focus ST and Fiesta ST. Sadly, it's for Euro buyers only.

Ford has just announced its Focus ST and Fiesta ST hot hatches can be bought with more power courtesy of some Mountune performance upgrades. But here’s the thing: only European buyers can get in on the fun here. For the Focus ST, this Mountune package adds a cast alloy inlet duct, larger alloy intercooler and some new calibration that sees output go from 252 horsepower to 272 ponies.

0-62 mph happens in less than six seconds, which is more than half a second faster than the standard version.

The Fiesta ST receives a modified air box base with secondary inlet duct, thus allowing power to go from 177 hp to 212 hp and a 0-62 mph time of 6.7 seconds. Euro buyers will only have to wait up to 90 minutes for their local Ford dealer to complete the upgrades, all of which are covered by a factory warranty. Pricing is also quite reasonable, coming in at roughly $900 to $1,900. A few years back, Mountune offered a tuner kit for the Focus RS, which increased output from the turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five from 300 to 345 hp. It’s a damn shame that Ford isn’t letting US owners get in on the action.
