Ford Apologises To Maverick Hybrid Buyers With Cool Free Gift

Trucks / Comments

Deliveries for the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid are delayed until January 2022. Ford says sorry in style.

A few days ago, the EPA released official economy figures for the 2022 Ford Maverick. With a 42-mpg city rating, the Ford Maverick is more efficient than the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which returns 21 mpg in city driving. It's not all good news, however. While dealer deliveries for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost model have already started, anyone who ordered the Maverick Hybrid have a longer wait.

Because the required emissions certifications still haven't been completed, the Maverick Hybrid is now expected to arrive in dealers in December. As a result, the first customer deliveries of the Maverick Hybrid are delayed until January 2022.

As an apology for the delay, Ford is offering customers who ordered the Maverick Hybrid a free Ford Integrated Tether System (FITS) accessory kit after they receive delivery. Ford's FITS slots can be used to mount accessories inside the cabin. Each Maverick comes equipped with eight slots, with one located at the rear of the center console and seven in the under-seat storage bins.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can even design and print your own 3D-printed accessories. To get you started, Ford's FITS accessory kit includes a storage bin, cupholder, phone cord organizer, bag hooks, and dividers for the under-seat storage area.

It's a welcome move from Ford, but customers will no doubt still be frustrated by the delays. Ford is going to have to work hard to keep up with the insane demand, too. Its affordable $19,995 starting price has made the Maverick a runaway success for Ford, silencing sceptics who thought there would be low demand for a compact pickup slotting below the Ranger in America. It's so popular that Ford thinks the Maverick Hybrid will be completely sold out by early November. If so, orders will be suspended until next summer, so some customers may have an even longer wait if they don't act soon.
