Ford's enthusiasm for the all-new Bronco is seemingly boundless. Following the announcement of its Bronco Ultra4 4400 built to run in the King Of The Hammers race in the unlimited class starting this week, Ford has revealed its entry for the ULTRA4 Stock Class.

Meet the Bronco 4600: built from the factory stock Bronco two-door SUV chassis and powered by a race-bred version of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine rather than the 4400's Ford Performance V8. The Bronco 4600 also features a different livery from the unlimited class 4400. Ford describes it as a 'war paint' scheme and pays homage to the 1969 Baja 1000 winning Bronco.

As well as putting the 4600 Bronco into the heat of competition, Ford is using the vehicle as a testbed for its in-house performance parts while showcasing independent aftermarket parts.

"Our new Bronco 4600 race trucks underscore our motorsports heritage and how the all-new 2021 Bronco can be tuned from the showroom floor to compete in the grueling ULTRA4 stock class series," said Dave Rivers, Ford SUV marketing manager.

The suspension setup uses Ford's competition-tuned off-road stability suspension with Fox coilover shocks, remote reservoirs, and Fox pneumatic bump stops. The 4600 Bronco uses Wilwood Engineering brakes for stopping power while 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires provide the grip.

The drivetrain uses Ford's SelectShift 10-speed automatic and controls the power to be distributed through a factory Dana AdvanTEK e-locking differential at the front and a Dynatrac ProRock XD60 axle with an ARB 35-spline Air Locker at the back.

Ford's enthusiasm to embrace off-road racing extends beyond marketing. Still, the automaker believes the Bronco 4600 race truck demonstrates how customers can prep the new Bronco for off-road racing.

The Bronco 4600 starts its testing regime towards the end of February and will race in the stock class alongside the 4400 racing in the unlimited class.
