It's reinforced for off-roading, too.
Specifying your ideal Ford Bronco from the factory is easy. The Dearborn-based carmaker provides two body styles stretching across several trim levels, all with various engine, wheel, and color options, to suit your needs and budget. But a handful of companies have set out to offer owners even more exclusivity, with unique lighting accessories and aftermarket roof options both available.
Those looking for a throatier exhaust note and a slight power increase are also in luck. Philadelphia's AWE has announced an all-new 0FG Catback Exhaust for the Bronco 2.3-liter and 2.7-liter models. The company claims the new setup gives the 2.3-liter turbocharged engine an extra 3 horsepower and 3 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. The six-cylinder twin-turbo model receives an extra 4 hp and 3 lb-ft of torque. Those are minor gains but the exhaust system does make the Bronco sound mmore aggressive.
For the record, the stock 2.3-liter Bronco makes 300 hp and 325 lb-ft on premium gas, and the 2.7-liter generates 330 hp and 415 lb-ft on the same gas. Available for both two- and four-door variants, the exhaust suite from AWE features three modular catback configurations with multiple tip options. All have the capability to provide segment-leading clearance with the AWE BashGuard, a reinforced turn-down style axle-back outlet.
"We set out to create one exhaust for any terrain, and our NPD group knocked this out of the park. 3-inch T304L stainless steel, a much-needed wake-up in the sound department, and radical, trailside modularity," noted AWE's Jesse Kramer. The aftermarket exhaust system should be able to take anything rough terrain can throw at it, with the bash guard featuring a 0.125-inch thick reinforced ring on the outlet.
Installation should be easy too, with bespoke mounting brackets allowing the system to be fitted to 2.3-liter Broncos without removing the bumper. What's more, no cutting is required - the exhaust is designed to be bolt-on. Locking collars for the exhaust hangers also ensure limited movement.
Various tip options are offered in chrome or a diamond black finish, with customers able to choose between a 4.5-inch slash-cut or a single five-inch straight-cut design. All of them are double-walled. Based on the video above, the AWE exhaust will give the Bronco a deeper exhaust note and, while not as sporty-sounding as the newly-launched Bronco Raptor, it's a big improvement over the factory-fitted item. All units boast a perfect fitment guarantee, along with a lifetime warranty.
