It may well be wearing heavy disguise, but there is no confusing this as an all-new second-generation Ford Edge. Set to be become a global model as part of the One Ford strategy, the 2015 Ford Edge is being tested and refined ahead of going into production by the beginning of 2015, if not a few months earlier. Through all that camouflage we can see a more streamlined profile, a dominant three-bar grille, and svelte xenon headlights.

The new Edge will ride on the same CD4 platform as the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, underpinnings that will eventually be shared by the new Ford S-Max, Taurus, and Lincoln MKS. Ecoboost engines will dictate the new Edge's powerplant lineup, with the 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo units doing the business. A new low-displacement V6, rumored to be less than 3.0 liters, is also under development featuring multi-stage turbocharging and direct injection.
