After numerous delays, the Ford Bronco has finally arrived in America, but Ford is wasting no time testing another rugged SUV that rides on the same body-on-frame platform. Outside of the US, Ford sells the midsize Everest SUV in Australia and New Zealand. The Everest has been on the market since 2003 and the second-generation model launched back in 2015, so the time has come for a redesign. For the first time, our spies have spotted Ford testing a prototype of the all-new 2023 Ford Everest in Europe.

Since it shares the same platform as Ford's midsize truck, the Everest is essentially the SUV equivalent of the Ford Ranger.

With that in mind, it's no coincidence that the redesigned Ford Ranger was spotted undergoing testing at the same location just a few days ago. The redesigned Everest is fully camouflaged but appears to share design cues with the new Ranger.

We can see the front end mimics the Ranger, with the same LED headlights and C-shaped daytime running lights. The round yellow sticker on the windshield also indicates the Everest will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, we can't see a charging port unless it's hidden by the camouflage.

Under the hood, the Everest will share the same powertrains as its Ranger sibling. In the US, the new Ford Ranger will almost certainly get the same 270-horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and 310-hp 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 as the Bronco. Diesel options will also be available for the Everest in other markets.

Potentially, Ford could sell the Everest in Europe to fill the void of the Bronco that won't be sold outside of the US. We're not expecting the Everest to come to America, however, as it could cannibalize sales of the Bronco.
