In all likelihood, 2019 will be the final model year for the aging Ford Flex, although the Blue Oval has not made an official announcement. This three-row full-size crossover was launched for the 2009 model year and has changed relatively little since. It's had a good ten-year run. Its exterior design was controversial from the start, but it offered minivan-like interior space and storage. Even with an attractive $4,500 discount in September, Flex sales decreased by seven percent in the third quarter of 2019, as Ford Authority notes. Interestingly, Flex sales actually increased in the first two quarters of this year. And now it appears Ford wants to regain some of that sales momentum to give the Flex a strong finale.

Through the end of this month, Ford is offering the Flex with savings by as much as $5,000. This is not a region-specific offer but rather it's nationwide. For those who qualify, they will receive $2,500 in customer cash plus another $500 off in what's called Select Inventory Customer Cash. On top of that, there's another $2,000 in bonus cash. All that adds up to $5,000.

This offer only applies to AWD Limited models, however. There must be an overstock of the range-topping trim on dealership lots. There's also a finance offer of $2,000 bonus cash combined with 1.9 percent APR financing for 60 months, though this does require the use of Ford Credit financing. Lastly, there's a $3,500 retail incentive for the Flex Limited, though, again, this may require Ford Credit financing.

These offers are set to expire at midnight on October 31, though we would not be surprised to see a similar (perhaps better) offer return for next month. Still, up to $5,000 off a top trim Flex Limited with AWD is pretty darn good for a vehicle that normally has an MSRP of $33,790. The least expensive Flex is the $30,575 SE trim.

With the Flex's expected departure from the scene, Ford will push customers towards its all-new Explorer instead. There's also a rumor Ford is developing an all-new crossover slotted above the Escape, though we don't know whether it will offer a third row.
