Ford is dropping prices across the board for the 2023 Mustang Mach-E and significantly increasing production of the all-electric crossover only a couple of weeks after Tesla announced its own price cuts. The EV pricing wars have officially begun.

Those prices are dropping based on configuration and trim level, specifically between $600 and $5,900. Production will also increase by 60% for the 2023 model year after Ford sold nearly 40k units in 2022.

The Blue Oval specified that these price cuts take immediate effect and customers who've already placed an order for a '23 model but have yet to take delivery will see the price change automatically applied. Customers who took delivery of their vehicles after January 1 will be contacted by Ford directly. No specific details were provided regarding how those customers will be accommodated.

The base Mach-E Select RWD Standard Range now carries a starting MSRP of $45,995, a $900 price decrease. The biggest price drop, however, is for the top-of-the-line GT Extended Range, which sees a $5,900 decrease. Its new MSRP is $63,995. The cost of the Extended Range Battery option has also been slashed from $8,600 to $7,000.

These prices exclude the destination, delivery, and other government fees and taxes.

"We are not going to cede ground to anyone. We are producing more EVs to reduce customer wait times, offering competitive pricing and working to create an ownership experience that is second to none," said Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer, Ford Model e. "Our customers are at the center of everything we do - as we continue to build thrilling and exciting electric vehicles, we will continue to push the boundaries to make EVs more accessible for everybody."

As for the rest of the Mach-E lineup, the Select eAWD Standard Range now begins $600 cheaper at $48,995, the California Route 1 eAWD Extended Range at $57,995 (a $5,580 price cut), and the Premium RWD Standard Range and eAWD Extended Range at $50,995 and $53,995, respectively ($3,980 and $3,680 less than before).

The Nite Pony Appearance and GT Performance Packages remain the same as last year, $800 and $6,000, respectively. The '23 Mach-E remains relatively unchanged from last year, though it has received an updated climate control knob.

"This is a natural companion to the new Mach-E pricing," said Craig Carrington, Ford Credit executive vice president for North America. "The offer is straightforward and competitive, enabling customers to lock in today's rates, even if rates go up between order and delivery."
