Ranger-based seven-seater four-wheel-drive SUV is nearing production.
Ford unveiled the Ranger-based Everest SUV concept last year and these spy shots taken in northern Sweden reveal the Australian-engineered seven-seater is now being readied for production. The test mule appears to have a shorter wheelbase than the Ranger and a back-end borrowed from a Ford Territory. Disc brakes are apparently being favored over the drum brakes found on the Ranger, while the Everest is expected to get an upgraded rear suspension for better handling and ride comfort.
A new interior will further distinguish the new SUV from the Ranger. The Ford Everest is expected to be unveiled by year end before going on sale globally – the US excluded – in 2015.
