Front and back ends getting brand new styling.
Five years after its debut, the Ford Explorer is finally getting a proper facelift. Spied here wearing virtually no camouflage, the partly disguised prototype can be seen with totally redesigned front and rear ends. Taking design cues from the 2015 Edge, the front fascia has new, narrow headlights, fog lights positioned much higher than the current model, and a resculpted bumper. Profile shots reveal revised side skirt and door trim, while at the back, we can see new light clusters and a restyled bumper.
The 2016 Ford Explorer will doubtless come with an upgraded cabin, and buyers will have some new powerplants to choose from, including Ford’s new 2.3-liter EcoBoost. Production of the new Explorer is slated to begin in February.
