While we wait for Ford to refresh the strong-selling Explorer, the carmaker has decided to make some upgrades for the 2015 model year. On the XLT trim level, Ford has introduced a new appearance package that includes 20-inch alloys, black bodyside cladding, roof rack rails, and contrasting Magnetic Metallic accents on the grille, mirror caps and liftgate applique. Body-colored door handles and an “Explorer” hood badge round off the improvements.
The interior boasts Miko suede inserts in the heated leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and Sync connectivity with MyFord Touch infotainment and two 4.2-inch color displays in the instrument cluster. The rest of the Explorer range receives 18-inch alloys and three new exterior colors of Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Caribou Metallic and Magnetic Metallic. A Class III trailer tow package comes with the Explorer Sport. Prices range from $30,600 for the base model to $42,670 for the V6-powered Sport.
