When the all-new Ford Focus EV goes on sale at the end of 2011, it will be available in 14 states, including Washington D.C. Ford has stated that since there is a great deal of excitement for the EV across the country, the company wants to build on the enthusiasm by making it available in as many pilot markets as possible. The initial markets were chosen based on several different criteria, including existing hybrid purchase trends, utility company collaboration, and local government commitment to electrification.
Ford says that it will help develop consumer outreach and education programs on electric vehicles as well as share information on charging needs and requirements to ensure the electrical grid can support customers' needs. So now, Ford has released the names of the locations where the Ford EV will be offered. Among them are Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Tucson, Portland, Raleigh Durham, Richmond, Seattle, and Washington D.C.
