A 51-year-old Brazil man and his wife were lucky to escape with their lives when he totaled their Ford GT. As you might be able to tell from the photos, this is no ordinary GT. No, this is sadly a Heritage Edition, one of only 383 built with the Gulf Oil livery sported by GT racers in the late 1960s. The fact that only 383 were built made them incredibly expensive. One with only 11 miles on the odometer was listed on eBay with a Buy It Now price of over $500,000. Needless to say this one will fetch a lot less if put up for sale.

Anyway, the story behind the accident is a familiar one: A driver with 505 horses and a top speed of 205 mph takes a wide turn too quickly. Although the man apparently managed to counter the oversteer, it was too little too late as the car quickly collided with a power pole. The GT was built to be retro in every sense, so it lacks the fancy safety features of modern cars. The driver came back negative when tested for booze, which means this is just a case of too much power and a whole lot of bad luck.
