Ford Mustang Gets Price Increase For 2021

Pricing / Comments

Some models and options are also discontinued for 2021.

After Ford confirmed how much the Mustang Mach 1 will cost, pricing details for all remaining 2021 Mustang trims have been revealed. For the 2021 model year, every Mustang trim is getting a minor price increase, but we doubt this will affect the pony car's sales, somehow, since the mighty Mustang is consistently America's best selling muscle car, beating the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro.

With a starting price of $27,155, the 2021 Ford Mustang Fastback EcoBoost is $485 more expensive than last year's model. Upgrading to the EcoBoost Premium will cost at least $32,175, a $490 increase over the previous model year.

The 2021 Ford Mustang GT and GT Premium models, on the other hand, start at $36,120 and $40,120 respectively, meaning both models are $240 more expensive for 2021. Likewise, the Mustang convertible also gets a price bump. Starting at $32,655, the Convertible EcoBoost trim is $485 more expensive than last year's model, while the price of the EcoBoost Premium has increased by $440, starting at $37,625. The GT Premium Convertible will cost $45,620, making it $240 more expensive than last year's model. Topping the range is the new Mustang Mach 1, which starts at $51,720. All quoted prices exclude the $1,195 destination and delivery charge.

Incremental price increases are common for model year updates, but the 2021 Mustang's higher starting price is justified since every trim now includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite as standard equipment. This safety suite includes auto high-beam headlamps, a blind spot information system, lane-keeping assist, lane-keeping alert, driver alert, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, dynamic brake support, and rain-sensing wipers.

In addition, several models and options have been dropped for 2021. The Performance Pack Level 2 package is no longer available, while the Shelby GT350, Shelby GT350R, and Mustang Bullitt are discontinued and effectively replaced by the Mustang Mach 1.
