Currently, the Ford Mustang is a car that has access to several visual customizations both from the manufacturer and third-party suppliers. Firms such as Shelby, Roush, Hennessey, and more have always bolstered the presence of the muscle car by offering its owners a series of unique trimmings both inside and out.

An extreme example of this is the carbon fiber catalog that was created by Ford Performance for the GT500. These pieces were designed to add to the car's ability on the track or drag strip over and above the standard offering. Those in the market for pieces that are a bit more subtle can peruse the division's portfolio for milder parts, such as this Performance Pack 1 wing that is now available to purchase as a standalone item.

If you're currently in possession of an S550 Ford Mustang built from 2015-2021 and feel that the rear design is looking a bit bare, you'll be glad to know that Ford Performance has added the trunk wing to its catalog. Part number M-16600-MPP is being sold as an original piece of equipment for the Mustang model at $550. Formerly, this wing was only available as part of the complete Performance Pack 1 suite, meaning it came with 19-inch wheels wrapped in summer tires, Brembo six-piston front brakes, uprated springs, a K-brace, a strut-tower brace, a retuned stability control system, and even a larger radiator. If you care about lap times, then this package makes sense, but for those who just want a little more style, it's nice to gain access to the wing without spending big on a package.

While the wing adds downforce to the Mustang, it will also increase the overall weight by 11 pounds. The dimensions of the performance part are compact at 20.5 inches long, 67 inches wide, and six inches tall. It's not clear why this is part has been listed for models up to 2021 when this year's range features unchanged dimensions.

The S550 generation of the Mustang has been available to the market since 2014 with the expectation of an all-new generation to be introduced in 2024. A recent report revealed that Ford would only get started on production for the S650 generation by March of 2023 which means we'll have access to this generation for a little while longer. Test units of this model have already been spotted with the assurance that a V8 will be located under the hood.
