The pandemic that struck over a year and a half ago changed the world in countless ways. The auto industry has suffered greatly in many ways, but some valuable and long-term beneficial lessons have been learned. Ford is already implementing one of them. Introducing the expansion of Ford's at-home Pickup & Delivery service. The name is self-explanatory.

The program got underway during the pandemic's early days by several dealerships. Owners needed their vehicles to be serviced but were either under lockdown or didn't feel safe leaving their homes. As an essential service, these dealerships found a way to accommodate them. The program worked so well that Ford is making it available nationwide to all of its 8.5 million FordPass Rewards loyalty members and 3,100+ dealers.

The rewards program itself is undergoing a pretty big change with the new tier system. There are now Blue, Silver, and Bronze levels, the former two being the top tiers. These owners are also now eligible for free Pickup & Delivery services. All members, including Bronze, earn points in order to climb the tier ladder. For example, Bronze members receive 10 points per dollar spent on Ford services. Silver and Blue members also get 10 points plus a 5 and 10 percent bonus, respectively, on points earned.

All members get access to additional promotional offers. Ford says it's delivered around 10,000 Pickup & Delivery services since March 2020 and aims to be the industry leader in remote services by the end of this year. It doesn't matter whether one drives a basic Ford EcoSport or a Mustang Shelby GT500 - any Ford owner can join.

Using the service is very easy. Owners just have to call their local dealer to schedule an appointment. Text message and/or email updates are sent during the day to keep customers informed of the service progress and when it'll be completed. Returning vehicles should happen the same day, assuming there are no major mechanical or technical issues.

FordPass Rewards members receive additional benefits too, such as discounts at Costco, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and even the Ford Performance Racing School. The free FordPass app is another useful tool as it gives owners access to remote command and control features and even emergency services. Not in the mood for a dealership visit? Don't have the time? Ford has just solved your problem.
