As if American fans of small pickups didn't have enough reasons to be jealous of Australians, Ford is making it harder to be gracious towards our friends down under with constant new offerings that we don't get locally. The region has seen the addition of the Ranger Tradie and is preparing for a new hybrid model too. Of course, it's taken a while but we finally have our own Ford Ranger, and we're very happy that it's finally being offered here, but Australia still seems to get the coolest models. The latest two are the Ranger Raptor X and the rugged FX4.

President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Birkic, had this to say about the new models: "The styling changes made as part of the Ranger Raptor X will help it to keep turning heads as a stand out member of the Ford Performance family. And, thanks to customer feedback, we're bringing back the Ranger FX4."

So what do these new models offer?

The Ranger Raptor X is visually enhanced by stripes on every panel except the front fenders, in Carbon Twill Texture Matte Black with Searing Red border accents.

The standard wheels are also painted Asphalt Black Matte and you get an extended leg sports bar, red tow hooks at the front, a black Ford logo on the tailgate, and matte finishes for the front grille, bumper, over fenders, door handles, fender vents, mirror caps, fog lamp bezels, and rear bumper cover.

Inside, you get red contrast stitching on the steering wheel and dash, along with Hydrographic and Black Alley accents.

The Ranger Raptor X is basically an appearance package for the regular Ranger Raptor, but what about the FX4? Well this gets darkened bi-LED headlights, an FX4-specific mesh front grille in Ebony Black, 18-inch FX4 wheels, 3D decals, an extended sports bar in black, and Ebony Black exterior finishes for the mirrors, handles, and fender accents.

Inside, you get leather-accented seats with Race Red stitching, soft-touch surfaces, Tinted Graphite accents, and more Race Red stitching on the steering wheel, gear selector, center console, and instrument pane. The Ranger Raptor X starts at the equivalent of $61,300 while the FX4 starts at around $46,300. Both will be available from July.
