This custom Ford Ranger is ready to hit the dirt.
Despite our pleas, Ford still refuses to sell the Ranger Raptor in the US. This could change when the next-generation Ford Ranger arrives, but for now, the hardcore off-roader is forbidden fruit in America. Thankfully, aftermarket tuners have been customizing the Ford Ranger with some rugged upgrades to help fill the void. This latest project is the work of Baja Forged, which also sells off-road-focused upgrades for other Ford trucks and SUVs including the Ford Expedition, F-150 Raptor, and Super Duty trucks.
Baja Forged is offering a rugged-looking front bumper kit for the Ford Ranger featuring a tube frame that makes it lighter and stronger than the standard bumper, while also offering better protection thanks to an integrated front skid plate.
To improve visibility during off-roading adventures, the custom bumper can also be fitted with mounted LED lights. Similar upgrades can be found at the back, as the rear bumper also uses a tougher tube frame and comes with mounts for LED lights and a license plate.
In addition, Baja Forged can fit a bed cage that mounts the spare tire and wheel to increase space under the truck. This enhances the truck's capability by increasing the amount of ground clearance, as well as improving approach and departure angles.
Baja Forged's custom Ford Ranger components are currently available to preorder. There's no pricing or availability information yet, but each part is built to order and can take up to 12 weeks to build and deliver. Pricing for the donor Ford Ranger starts at $24,110 in the US.
No performance upgrades are available either. As standard, the US-spec Ford Ranger is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbo producing 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. If you want to further improve the Ranger's capability, Ford Performance recently revealed a range of off-road accessories for the Ranger, including a leveling kit, Fox shocks, and 17-inch wheels.
