Getting out of sticky situations is now easier than ever.
Late last year, Ford revealed the Tremor, an exciting addition to the F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty models. It's an impressive offering and is sure to sell well, even amidst strong competition from the likes of Ram. However, those with regular Super Duty vehicles noticed the winch on the Tremor and asked Ford to make one for them.
A winch is practically a must-have for any off-roading enthusiast, as it can pull itself (and your truck) out of almost any mud pit. The opportunity to fit one that carries a warranty and the full backing of Ford is even better, especially since it has been developed with crash safety and capability top of mind.
Ford clearly listens to its customers and hasn't slacked on the quality of this offering. It can winch an incredible 12,000 pounds of weight and features "optimized airflow and clearance regardless of engine choice." The winch cable is made from high-tensile, abrasion-resistant synthetic material and it comes with the only wireless remote control in its class. You also get a wired one. The only criteria required for you to be able to fit this winch as a factory option or a dealer-installed accessory is that you have either the optional 7.3-liter gas V8 engine or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 with 4x4, dual batteries, and dual 397-amp alternators in your truck.
So what does it cost, and when can you get one? Well, orders open on April 8th, and the cost is $3,000 if you add it as a factory option to your 2020 or newer Super Duty truck. It can also be added after purchase at a dealer for a recommended MSRP of $3,000 plus labor. Of course, you could save on labor costs by fitting it yourself, but we'd err on the side of caution and spend the extra few bucks to be sure that it is correctly installed by the guys who work on the trucks all day.
