Ford’s Beastly Answer To Chevrolet’s COPO Camaro Is Here

This limited-edition turn-key racecar is ready to destroy.

Ford Performance justunveiled the 2016 Cobra Jet Mustang at SEMA 2015 and the drag racer looksincredible. Similar to its predecessors, the Cobra Jet is a trackcar that’s legal for drag racing competition right out of the box. The CobraJet motor is comprised of 75 percent production parts from the Ford Mustang GT,but has a Whipple supercharger that aids the car in being able to complete thequarter mile in the eight-second range. In addition to the supercharger, theCobra Jet has other drag racing components that'll help it do battle against the new COPO Camaro.

There are drag racing coil-over shocksand springs, lightweight racing brakes, an 8.50-certified roll cage, an Aeromotivefuel system with trunk-mounted fuel cell, Corbeau FIA seats, five-point raceharnesses and a race-prepped automotive transmission.

No power or performance figures were provided but pricing for the Cobra Jet starts at $99,99. The populargraphics option costs $1,995 and the wheelie bar adds $1,995. Only 50 unitswill be made—25 examples in Oxford White or Deep Impact Blue.
