The success of the F-Series Super Duty models is set to continue with the latest addition to the range, the 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum that includes a host of gadgets and high quality trims. Ford has yet to release pricing details, but has said the plush truck will sit at the top of the lineup, so will cost more than the $64,030 flagship model, the F450 Super Duty King Ranch. Standard features include navigation, rear view camera, Remote Start System, power-adjustable pedals and power-telescoping mirrors.
For the first time, it will also be available with a truck-specific version of SYNC with MyFord Touch. So, large rotating knobs and tactile button controls for truck users wearing work gloves. "The F-Series Super Duty Platinum is the latest expression of Built Ford Tough truck luxury," said Brian Rathsburg, F-Series Super Duty Marketing manager. "It has a distinct appearance and a long list of features to deliver a superior experience. Along with that, it has all of the capability F-Series trucks are famous for." Available only in the Super Duty crew cab, customers can order it as an F-250, F-350 or F-450 pickup.
They can also choose between the Ford-designed and Ford-built 400hp 6.7-liter diesel or the 385hp 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine. On the exterior, door handles, mirror caps, running boards and exhaust are covered in chrome, both boxsides are embossed with 'Platinum' in chrome letters, and the tailgate is trimmed with a satin chrome applique. Finishing the look are 20-inch polished-aluminum alloys with painted black inserts. Inside, there's a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, while premium wood grain features on the instrument panel, center stack and door trims.
Chairs are upholstered with soft, premium leather that also adorns the armrests and console, and the driver's seat has 10-way power-adjustable seating. There's also a new storage area atop the dash including USB ports, SD card slot, and a 12-volt charging port for cell phones and the like.
Available in Ruby Red, Kodiak Brown, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver and White Platinum, and interior colors of Pecan and Midnight Black, the F-Series Super Duty Platinum will go on sale later this year.
