Ford Wants To Dominate Off-Road Racing With Its New Raptor

As if the the street version wasn't awesome enough.

The all new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was built with off-roading in mind. To show off the truck's toughness, Ford has transformed it into an extreme racing vehicle. The fully boxed frame features more high-strength steel than the outgoing model. The Raptor race truck will utilize the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, ten-speed transmission, and torque-on-demand transfer case as its production counterpart. The new EcoBoost engine means better fuel economy which allows the Raptor to go longer without needing to refuel. In racing, that's important.

In addition to the host of off-roading features from the standard car, the racing Raptor is equipped with race-optimized front and rear springs, a custom-fabricated roll cage, MasterCraft seats with five-point harness safety belts and window nets, LED light bars, a racing fuel cell, Lowrance GPS, RacePak digital dash and data logger. The new Raptor race truck will compete in the new factory stock class which is the most production-specification class in the Best in the Desert racing series. Ford's new truck certainly seems capable of conquering any off-road environment and we can't wait to see it in competition.
