French automaker Renault debuts their all-new Twingo city car at Frankfurt.
Renault has just unveiled their first model that features their new design language at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show. The new 2012 Twingo features has a number of styling traits that were featured on previous concepts, but will now be making regular appearances across the entire future lineup. Power for the new hatchback will come from a variety of small, but fuel efficient engines. Base models come equipped with a 1.2 TCe 100hp gasoline unit.
Also available are a variety of diesel engines, but big news for this year is that the Twingo has achieved benchmark emissions standards and is one of the only city cars to be available with Euro5 diesel engines that combine respectable performance and fuel efficiency. As with the outgoing model, the new Twingo will feature a range of multimedia audio systems, with each of them having Bluetooth and audio streaming with USB connectivity as standard. An optional feature allows for the audio system to be used as a docking station for an iPhone/iPod Touch.
Renault even developed their own iPhone application that allows for the audio system to permit the use of GPS navigation. Sales are set to begin across Europe in the coming months.
