Welcome to the world of extreme luxury.
It’s an automotive segment many desire to be a part of, but very few can actually afford the entrance fee. The large rear-wheel-drive luxury coupe is not exactly an automaker’s bread and butter, but it’s still a must-have in the world of extreme wealth. Aside from Rolls-Royce and Bentley, Mercedes-Benz knows a thing or two about this segment. Today’s S-Class Coupe, specifically the just revealed S65 AMG, is without question one of the most exclusive big coupes on the market today.
Powered by a twin-turbo V12 producing 630 horsepower, the S65 AMG Coupe is for the buyer who’s not only insanely rich, but also doesn’t give a crap about backseat passengers. That’s what the S-Class sedan is for. The coupe is a symbol of automotive narcissism, but in a good way. And a big coupe is also exactly what Cadillac needs if it wants to be considered a true global luxury car brand. Low and behold, the Elmiraj Concept fits the bill perfectly here. It just needs the production green light. But would this big Caddie be enough to go up against the S65 AMG Coupe? Hopefully we’ll find out soon enough.
