German aftermarket tuner G-Power has turned its attention to the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and provided the svelte four-door coupe with an almighty power boost and a new name. This is the 888-horsepower G8M Hurricane RR.

With a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 developing 617 hp and 552 lb-ft of torque, the big M car didn't need any more power, but G-Power has provided it with more muscle anyway. The tuner hasn't just fitted a pair of intakes and called it a day. Instead, the G8M Hurricane RR now features forged pistons and connecting rods, as well as two in-house-developed charge air coolers.

The company has also enhanced the stock turbochargers with a CNC-milled compressor and turbine wheels. The potent V8 now kicks out nearly 900 horses and 774 lb-ft, considerably higher than the already impressive stock figures.

Of course, G-Power has also fitted a new exhaust for the engine to sing through. The Deeptone system comprises 3.93/4.33-inch carbon fiber tailpipes, which not only look good but serve an important purpose. The BMW specialists claim it reduces back pressure and temperature without sacrificing the characteristic V8 growl.

For a Hurricane RR vehicle, the G8M is surprisingly subtle. This line of tuned vehicles normally sports a vivid orange exterior finish, but G-Power has stuck for a more demure metallic purple applied from the factory that hides many of the styling add-ons. Look closely, and you'll note the carbon fiber Venturi RR hood, which has been designed to cool the engine bay as well.

Perhaps the fixed rear wing, also fashioned out of carbon fiber, is a bit much for a car of this sort. Other than that, the G8M looks quietly threatening.

Lastly, the tuner has added a new steering wheel and some aftermarket wheels for good measure. The 21-inch forged rims are wrapped up in 285/30 and 295/30 tires at the front and rear, respectively. They've been painted in Jet Black here and feature polished edges and outer spokes up front.

There's no word on performance, but previous G8M models are claimed to have a top speed of 211 mph. Interestingly, there are also kits available for people who prefer more modest outputs of between 700 and 840 hp.

The G8M Gran Coupe would make a fine stablemate for the Typhoon S, a 789-hp super SUV based on the BMW X5 M. Again, it's surprisingly subtle (for a tuner, at least) and would make for a startlingly quick school-run mobile. Should you require an even more serious SUV, the company also offers a tuning package for the Lamborghini Urus, boosting output to a whopping 830 horses.
