Tears, beers, and burnouts.
Dennis Nelson’s time is quickly running out. The 60-year-old gearhead is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. He’s also wheelchair-bound, and his family knows the end is near. Over the summer, the Niles, Ohio, resident and his family wanted to attend one last car show in nearby Lordstown, but the heat made it too difficult for Dennis to breathe and those plans were cancelled. But just the other day, Dennis’ caretaker, April Caruso-Richards, had an idea. Why not bring the car show to him?
“I just wanted a few cars for him, because I knew he would really like it,” she said. She posted her request online and word spread fast. Hundreds of fellow gearheads – literally complete strangers – showed up to Dennis’ house. It’s how gearheads say goodbye to one of their own.
