Ever since we first glimpsed the Genesis Essentia concept at the New York Motor Show in March we have been waiting for another opportunity to drool over its curvaceous lines once again. That opportunity came at the Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. The all-electric high-performance concept coupe took part in the concours parade over the weekend, sharing the stage with some priceless vintage cars.

"With this project, we set-out to create an object of desire, passion, and inspiration," said Manfred Fitzgerald, Global Head of the Genesis Brand. Well they have hit each one of those nails directly on the head with this one. Executive Vice President Luc Donkerwolke heads up Genesis design and elaborated on how the Genesis Essentia concept defines their vision for an electric GT car. He pointed out how some of its GT typology had been inspired by some of the very classics that were at the event. The Essentia is not just a retro-inspired nostalgia-inducing concept though, it features some cutting-edge tech too.

Among them a lightweight carbon-fiber monocoque, advanced electronics and multi-motor electric powertrain that, according to Fitzgerald is all technically feasible. If it ever receives the go ahead for mass-production we could see the Essentia on the roads as early as 2021. Here's hoping that the right buttons are pushed for that to happen. In the meantime we can just stare at those gorgeous lines one more time.
