Genesis just can't keep the GV80 a secret.
Genesis is struggling to keep the upcoming GV80 a secret. Back in September, a dealership posted what it claimed were official renders of the production model. And now several photos have appeared online showing Genesis' first luxury SUV completely undisguised during a commercial photo-shoot as well as inside a servicing facility in Korea. Posted by Allcarnews, the photos aren't the best quality, but they give us a good idea of what the production model will look like.
A front shot of the exterior confirms that the design won't deviate from the original GV80 concept too much, as the production Genesis GV80 shares a similar split headlight design and a large grille, while the profile features a sloping roofline and a long hood.
We also get a good look inside the cabin, which is more luxurious than any current Genesis model. The model shown in the leaked photos features premium materials including fancy quilted leather, as well as a large integrated infotainment screen, and a digital dashboard. The luxury SUV can also be optioned with massaging seats and advanced driver assistance systems. Overall, the layout reminds us of the Hyundai Palisade's interior.
Recently leaked specifications suggest the Genesis GV80 will be offered with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 304 hp, a 3.5-liter V6 with 380 hp, and a new 3.0-liter diesel inline-six producing 278 hp, but the latter probably won't be sold in the US.
Power will reportedly be sent through a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. According to reports, the GV80 will measure 16.2 feet long, 6.4 feet wide and 5.6 feet high.
As the automaker's first luxury SUV, Genesis GV80 will be one of the brand's most important that will take on the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Mercedes GLE and will most likely become its best-selling model. We still don't know when Genesis will unveil the GV80, but the luxury SUV is expected to go on sale in the US in summer 2020. The leaked photos from the commercial photoshoot suggest an official reveal isn't too far away. A smaller GV70 SUV will also join the lineup.
