As Genesis continues its luxurious onslaught on America with an ever-expanding dealership network, the Korean automaker is also getting ready to sell several electrified models, including luxury SUVs such as the Electrified GV70. Genesis is even taking the fight to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the stunning new G90. It seems like there is no challenge big enough for Genesis, and J.D. Power has just confirmed that the GV80 SUV is the recipient of a mightily impressive award. The SUV has received the J.D. Power Engineering Award for the Highest-Rated All-New Vehicle. Yes, out of every new car on the market evaluated, the GV80 emerged with the highest score.

This prestigious title is awarded to the team responsible for engineering the highest-rated new entry into the market for the 2021 model year, and combines the results of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) with the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. The IQS study measures the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership, while the APEAL study measures vehicle owners' overall satisfaction with a specific vehicle over the first 90 days of ownership. Both scores are calculated and compared to competitors (the Genesis GV80 competed in the Premium Upper Middle SUV class in 2021) and both scores hold equal weight.

"Genesis is committed to designing and engineering world class-products for consumers around the globe. We are pleased to receive this recognition from J.D. Power. With its refined performance, bold design, leading technologies, and exceptional comfort, it is no surprise that GV80 continues to be a favorite of our customers and industry observers alike," said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 started at $48,900 ($50,200 for the 2022 model) and features a base 2.5-liter engine or a 375 horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. Standard features include 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control. To add to the GV80's appeal, all models come standard with driver-assistance features such as evasive steering assist, front-cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and vehicle exit warning. We found the GV80 to ride beautifully and admired its imposing design. Based on this latest award, it seems that customers agree.
