For those unfamiliar with Audi's alphanumeric hierarchy, with a couple exceptions (TT, R8): As the numbers increase, so does the size of the car. As the letters go from A to S and finally to RS, the cars go from quick to fast to mind-bending. Thus, the RS3 is about the same size as a Golf, but it has that oh-so-excellent 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine that Audi is finding homes for under the hoods of as many of their cars as they can.

We are in favor of this though, as this engine produces 340 horsepower and 331lb-ft of torque. The A3 comes with standard front-wheel-drive, but since 340hp is far too much to be sending to just the front wheels, the RS3 comes with Quattro and a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission as standard. No work when (or even if) it will be getting to the US, but we do know it will get to 60mph in 4.6-seconds.
