Geneva 2011: Kia Picanto

/ Comments

We reported on the Kia Picanto a couple of times towards the end of 2010, but Kia has now revealed the entire city car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The all-new Picanto will be offered with a total of four engines to global markets, including gasoline, flex fuel, and bi-fuel versions of its 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, and a gas 1.25-liter four-cylinder engine. We can expect the output will range between 68-horsepower and 84-hp.

Kia has stated that the Korean automaker paid particular attention to improving the CO2 emissions and fuel economy of the engines in the Picanto. CO2 figures range between 95 g/km and 105 g/km for standard models, which isn't too bad especially when you take into account Kia's fuel-saving ISG technologies. Physically, the Picanto is longer than the outgoing model, sporting a stretched wheelbase to provide more cabin space for passengers. Kia also says that a five-door variant will be launching in late spring, while the sportier three-door will come in fall.
