Geneva 2011: Lotus Hybrid Technology

We always look forward to what Lotus and its engineers have in store for us at auto shows. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Lotus Engineering has brought a supercharged version of its Range Extender engine for its premiere. This is the engine designed specifically for hybrid and electric vehicles. The engine is essentially a 1.3-liter three-cylinder unit that can muster out 67-horsepower.

A concept version of this engine was used in Jaguar's Limo Green development car, and what's more is that Lotus has also worked with Spanish powertrain specialist Fagor Ederlan to develop it for series production. The engine is on display now in Geneva in a cutaway of Lotus' Evora 414Evolution concept.
