Subaru has been selling US customers exclusively AWD cars for some time now and even thought the Japanese automaker has produced some of the best-selling Snow Belt favorites for decades, they're prepared to show us that they aren't married to AWD. Of course, any car that constitute a departure from this norm would have to be pretty special, but that is exactly what Subaru is telling us that their upcoming RWD boxer-engine sports car is going to be.

Subaru released some details at the Geneva Motor Show, and we now know that the RWD sports car will have a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine. Without the need to send any power to the front wheels, the engine will be mounted much further back in this car, compared to other Subaru models, and that should give it better weight distribution. As you would expect from Subaru, they've also worked to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. This should make for exceptional handling, but we'll just have to wait and see.
