Germany's Newest 'Cop Car' Isn't A Porsche 911 But...A Corvette?!

Because it looks more badass.

What you're looking at was just revealed at the 2015 Essen Motor Show. And no, your eyes aren't fooling you. This is a tuned Chevrolet Corvette with German police (sorry, "Polizei") livery. The one-off Vette was built by TIKT Performance on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Transport and the Association of Automobile Tuners (VDAT). It's actually called the Tune It! Safe! Corvette. Weird name, we know, but Tune It! Safe!, according to World Car Fans, was founded back in 2005.

It's purpose is to promote safe and responsible tuning that's also compliant with all legal requirements. Makes sense then to tune and display a Corvette for law enforcement. Some of the car's features include a carbon fiber body kit (front lip spoiler, extended fender flares, side skirts, and rear spoiler), a Hella police lighting package, and 19- and 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook Ventus rubber. The 6.2-liter V8, paired to a seven-speed manual, was left unchanged with its 459 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. So why a Corvette and not a 911? Maybe it's simply because the Corvette makes a cooler cop car.
