The Bentley Bentayga is the fastest SUV on the planet with a top speed of 187 mph. As of now, the Bentayga's incredible performance is created using a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 with 600 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. The W12 is currently the only engine option, but Bentley has confirmed plans to launch a hybrid and diesel version of the Bentayga. Now, Autovisie has more information about where the diesel powertrain for the Bentayga will come from. According to the reports, Bentley will borrow the new 4.0-liter V8 from the Audi SQ7.

The SQ7 is a new model for Audi that was recently launched with an insane new engine. This 4.0-liter V8 packs two conventional turbochargers, as well as a third, electrically driven unit. These three turbochargers combine to give the SQ7 435 hp and 664 ft-lb of torque. This helps the heavy SUV get to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds while still getting 31.8 mpg (US). The current Bentayga can hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, so we doubt that the diesel version will be quicker or faster in top speed. However, Bentley will likely tune the V8 engine to produce more power and torque than it does in the Audi. We aren't sure how many people really want a diesel Bentley, but that hasn't stopped us from getting excited.
