The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is arguably the most hotly anticipated electric vehicle that the German automaker has proposed thus far. Fans of the original bay-window, split-window, and other variants of the Volkswagen bus have been excited about the possibility of a retro-futuristic fun machine like an electric family van, and Volkswagen has been keeping the positive publicity going by revealing an autonomous prototype and a teaser of the vehicle in vibrant, colorful camouflage. Now we're getting another teaser, and it says that 2022 is the year of the ID.Buzz, suggesting that a reveal could be imminent

The teaser continually reiterates that the electric bus is coming "soon, soon, soon," and promises that it will have the DNA of an icon" - a bold claim considering that the original VW buses were always very affordable and easy to live with. We highly doubt that the electric minivan will be cheap to buy, but American buyers need not worry about that for some time yet.

Although the bus will surely be revealed within the next couple of months, it is only expected to arrive Stateside in late 2023 as a 2024 model. Still, this teaser is promising, suggesting that VW will meet its goal of bringing the ID.Buzz to production in 2022.

We're expecting that the bus will be offered in a variety of flavors. The US and Europe will be getting models tailored specifically to the demands of each market, with the former getting access to a four-seat ride-hailing variant and Europe expected to get a six-seat version for ride-pooling. A third option, namely a cargo van, is also likely to be introduced. We must admit that we're getting particularly anxious to learn more about this bus, as VW had earlier confirmed a 2022 reveal, so we'd like a little more new information. Still, whenever the 200-horsepower EV does arrive, it's sure to be an internet sensation. Let's just hope that the price is just as attractive as the vehicle.
