The Bentley Bentayga set new standards for luxury SUVs when it debuted back in 2016. Since then, Bentley has sold over 20,000 examples of the opulent SUV, making it one of the luxury automaker's most popular models. But with new competition coming from the likes of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Aston Martin DBX, and Lamborghini Urus, the time has come for the Bentayga to receive an update to keep it looking fresh.

Thanks to spy shots and leaked images, we already knew that Bentley is preparing to give its opulent SUV an update, but we now know when the covers will officially come off.

Bentley has announced the new Bentayga will debut next week on June 30 at 17.00 BST. This will be the first model launching under the automaker's Beyond100 business strategy, which will add electrified versions of every current model by 2023.

Details about the 2021 Bentley Bentayga's changes are scarce. A teaser image previews the slightly reshaped headlights that match the design language of the new Bentley Continental and Flying Spur. We don't even know if this will be an all-new generation or simply a refresh.

While we would love it if the new Bentayga borrowed some radical exterior styling cues from the stunning Bacalar, leaked photos suggest the 2021 Bentayga will receive a very mild refresh, but we'll have to reserve judgment until the official reveal when higher quality photos will be available.

Other exterior changes shown in the leaked photos include reshaped air vents, a slightly larger lower grille, and a new wheel design. Changes to the interior will also be subtle. The same leaked photos showed the 2021 Bentley Bentayga's cabin will be upgraded with a fully digital instrument cluster, redesigned vents, and a larger infotainment screen.

Engine options are expected to carry over from the new Bentley Flying Spur, including a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 that produces 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Like the current model, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a V6 hybrid will also join the lineup.
