Following the reveal of an all-new Range Rover, it's almost time for the smaller 2023 Land Range Rover Sport to make its debut. Land Rover just teased the Range Rover Sport, spilling the beans on its release date. An Instagram post from Land Rover reads, "The third generation breaks cover May 10, 2022." That's just over two weeks away.

Since this is only a teaser, it doesn't show much. However, this is our first look at the Range Rover Sport where it isn't wearing any camouflage. The images reveal the new headlights, which are sleeker than the full-size Range. This smaller Sport model will carryover the larger model's flush door handles and available two-tone paint scheme.

Land Rover didn't share any photos of the interior, though we assume it will feature similar (albeit less opulent) design elements from the Range Rover. Under the hood, we've already spotted Land Rover testing the Range Rover Sport with a variety of powertrains, including a new SVR model powered by a twin-turbo BMW V8. This is the same engine found in models like the BMW X5 M and X6 M, likely producing over 600 horsepower. Lesser versions of the Range Rover Sport should use a de-tuned version of the BMW V8, or a smaller 3.0-liter inline-six mild-hybrid setup.

Buyers looking for a more fuel efficient option should consider the Range Rover Sport Hybrid, which will pair the aforementioned inline-six engine with an electric motor. This drivetrain is available in the full-size Range Rover Hybrid, where it produces 433 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque and enables a 48-mile electric-only driving range. Though it won't be announced during that May 10 reveal, Land Rover will eventually offer an all-electric version of the Range Rover Sport.

We look forward to seeing how much Land Rover differentiated the Range Rover Sport from its larger sibling in just over two weeks.
