GM Performance Parts Displays Their New E-Rod Crate Engine

What better way to give the classic Chevy Bel Air a new touch than with a new and modern engine? That's exactly what GM Performance Parts decided to do. Displayed at the Barrett-Jackson Auction, the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air LS7 has received a more fuel efficient E-Rod crate engine. The American automaker needed to keep up with the times, yet add some more power to a classic car.

The 6.2-liter LS3 E-Rod V8 gives a performance of 430hp and emits an average of 23 mpg in highway driving. In addition to the LS3 E-Rod, GM Performance Parts also displayed a Lingenfelter 1955 Chevrolet pickup with 5.3-liter V8 E-Rod. It gives an output of 315hp and just like the Bel Air LS7, will be equipped with GM Performance Parts 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission. Both the Bel Air and engine were on display this past weekend at the Barrett-Jackson Orange County Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
