Of course, Hummer needs to go big.
Just last month, General Motors officially announced when the 2022 GMC Hummer SUV and 2022 GMC Hummer Pickup truck will make their debut. After numerous teasers, we will finally get to see these new electric vehicles on October 20, 2020. With the hotly-anticipated return of the Hummer name, GMC wants to go appropriately big with how it reveals these new models. That is why the Hummer's reveal date coincides with game one of the World Series.
General Motors has a strong connection with Major League Baseball, providing the World Series MVP with a free car in each of the past 14 seasons. Last year, Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg received a Chevrolet Corvette. Perhaps this year's winner will receive a GMC Hummer.
General Motors, the parent company to GMC, has purchased commercial airtime to debut its new Hummer during the World Series game one on Fox and on The Voice, airing on NBC. The automaker will also reveal the car live on its YouTube channel and official website.
"Over the last 110 years, GMC has established itself as the industry's only premium truck and SUV brand. The revolutionary Hummer EV will forge new paths for the brand by blending extraordinary on-road performance and unprecedented off-road capability - all with zero-emissions," the company said in a statement.
The reveal begins at 8:00 pm EST with a short film playing across multiple formats, including the World Series, The Voice, and more. Debuting a new vehicle during a major sporting event like the Superbowl, World Series, or World Cup shows supreme confidence from an automaker. The Hummer should be a huge reveal for GMC. The truck is expected to produce up to 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque from its electric motors. Be sure to check back on October 20 after the Hummer is finally revealed for all the juicy details.
