GMC Yukon Gets Murdered-Out Graphite Editions

Special Edition

Less chrome makes a more sinister-looking Yukon.

Trucks don't get much more imposing than the GMC Yukon – all the more so in XL spec. But the big SUV is getting even more striking with the introduction of the new Graphite Edition and Graphite Performance Edition. Available for both the standard (Chevy Tahoe-sized) Yukon and the extended (Suburban-size) Yukon XL, the Graphite editions murder out all the trim that would otherwise be done up in bright shiny chrome, giving both models a more sinister look than stock.

The mesh grille, the fog-lamp surrounds, the side steps, the roof rails, the beltline moldings, and more are all done up in black for a more low-key look. The grille frame is painted to match the bodywork, and the giant 22-inch wheels are done up in a bright machined finish with gloss black accents. The special edition is based on the SLT, and there's a Graphite Performance Edition too. That version packs a 6.2-liter V8 engine sending its 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. It also includes the Magnetic Ride Control active suspension, entirely gloss-black wheels, 170-amp alternator, 3.23 axle ratio, high-capacity air filter, and more.

Both the Graphite and Graphite Performance Editions will be available in Onyx Black, White Frost, or Dark Sky Metallic. They're slated to reach dealers across the United States this summer. Pricing, we're told, will be announced closer to launch, but we wouldn't expect to have to pay too big a premium for what basically boils down to some upgraded trim. It'll certainly come in less, at any rate, to the similar (but more upscale) Yukon Denali Ultimate Black Edition.
